Your Child at Whitchurch Preschool

A caring, play-based environment where your child feels safe, happy and supported every day.

Our Aims

Our number one aim is for children to love coming to pre-school. We carefully plan interesting, engaging and sometimes surprising activities each day so that children feel excited and eager to join in.

While we use a weekly timetable to provide structure, each morning children are welcomed by a range of thoughtfully prepared invitations to play, ready and waiting as soon as they arrive. Children quickly settle in, becoming involved in activities and enjoying their time with us.

Our friendly and experienced team works hard to ensure all children feel welcome, happy and secure. Our key person approach helps children build strong, trusting relationships, while our relaxed and inclusive settling-in process supports them to feel confident and comfortable in the setting.

“Children thoroughly enjoy their time at pre-school and feel extremely welcome. Staff are warm, nurturing and enthusiastic, supporting children well as they develop confidence, communication skills and positive behaviour.”

Settling In

We understand that starting pre-school is a big step for both children and parents. We take time to help every child feel safe, secure and confident in their new environment.

Our settling-in process is flexible and tailored to each child’s needs. Parents and carers are welcome to stay during initial sessions, helping children build trust and familiarity at their own pace.

Our Aims

Our aim is to provide a happy, inclusive environment where every child feels safe, valued and confident. We support children’s emotional, social and physical development, helping them to become independent learners.

Through play-based activities, children are encouraged to explore, make choices and develop key skills at their own pace, while being supported by caring and experienced staff.

Progress

We carefully observe and support each child’s progress, recognising that every child develops at their own pace. Staff regularly monitor learning and development to ensure activities are engaging, appropriate and supportive.

We work closely with parents and carers, sharing information about children’s achievements and next steps to ensure a consistent approach between home and pre-school.

EYFS

We follow the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which sets the standards for learning, development and care for children from birth to five years.

The EYFS supports children’s learning through play across key areas of development, helping them to build the skills they need for school and beyond in a safe and nurturing environment.
