Thank You for Saving
Our Pre-School!

For over 30 years our Pre-School has been a cornerstone of our community, nurturing the minds and hearts of countless children. Our dedicated team works tirelessly to provide a safe, enriching environment where young learners can thrive. However, our current building (which is over 50 years old) is giving up and must be replaced by the end of 2024.

That's why we launched the "Save Our Pre-school" fundraising campaign. We turned to our community for support in this time of need and the community came together. We received donations from families, parents, the wider community and the parish council, adding to existing funds we already had in the bank from previous years.  We were also lucky enough to receive several sizable grants and private donations. All of this meant we were able to meet our target and launch the building project!

Introducing Our New Pre-school

Between 21st October and 2nd December, we will be demolishing the existing end-of-life building and replacing it with a brand new fit-for-purpose classroom.

We wanted to give up a sneak peek of what is to come! The new building will be both energy and space efficient, with an improved layout for the children and staff to enjoy, perfect for future generations.

A Heartfelt Thank You to Our Wonderful Community!

We are overwhelmed with gratitude for the incredible generosity and support we’ve received from our parents, local businesses, and the broader community in helping us bring our exciting new preschool project to life!

Earlier this year, during Easter 2024, we were informed that our current preschool building wouldn’t last through the winter. This news made it clear that a new building was not just a dream, but an urgent necessity to ensure our children had a safe, warm, and secure place to learn. Thanks to the tremendous support we’ve received, we are now well on our way to providing that space.

From the bottom of our hearts, we would like to thank everyone who contributed, in whatever way they could. Whether it was children organizing cake sales, individuals donating in memory of loved ones, or groups such as The Pangbourne Band, who held a magical Disney Concert to raise funds—your kindness has truly made a difference.

We’d also like to extend a special thank you to local business The Greyhound Pub at Whitchurch-on-Thames for its unwavering support and generous contributions through multiple fundraising events.

In addition, we’ve been fortunate to have the support of many local individuals, parents, organisations, and companies who generously donated their time, materials, and services. Whitchurch Primary School kindly provided a temporary classroom for our preschoolers during construction and assisted with all the necessary approvals. Former preschool parent Krzysztof Zielkowski generously repaired the roof of the old building and installed temporary props free of charge. Lawrie Gatherum from D&P Solutions Ltd offered invaluable architectural and planning advice, while James Longmate from J.L. Scaffolding Reading provided an excellent temporary shelter for our Forest School to protect the children from the rain during the build. A huge thank you to A1 Group for donating temporary toilet facilities whilst we complete the building works. We are especially grateful to Chris Bell, a current preschool parent who has volunteered countless hours to serve as the construction lead on this project. Additionally, we’ve had the voluntary support of structural engineer Chris Martin and ecologist Giles Sutton, whose expertise has been crucial in the planning process.

We were also honored to be visited by MP candidates Freddie van Mierlo (Liberal Democrats), who created a video during his visit, and Caroline Newton (Conservatives), both of whom took the time to learn about and show support for our project.

Of course, none of this would have been possible without the substantial grants and funding from family trusts and institutions. This project is part-funded by the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund with South Oxfordshire District Council as the lead authority. We are also deeply thankful for the support of the Garfield Weston Foundation, CHK Foundation, Tanner Trust and Whitchurch-on-Thames Parish Council for their generous grants.

Work has now started on the new building - and we hope to be in our new space by mid November! Thanks to all of you, we are a huge step closer to providing our children with a beautiful and safe new space to learn and grow. Your contributions, no matter the size, have been invaluable in making this dream a reality. We couldn’t have done it without you!
